Inspiration

I never really played games.  I spent my school years at an all‑girls boarding school, sneaking DS time and playing flash games in the computer room before a specific site got restricted. This project is a tribute to flash games and is deeply inspired by the hand-drawn comics I devoured during my emo phase. It’s the game I wish I’d had as a teenager

Development Journey

  • Prototype (2 weeks)

    • Implemented a basic parallax hallway

    • Collision‑triggered “zombify” events

    • Hand‑drawn sketches

  • Beta (3 months)

    • Polished the zombie AI

    • Wrote and integrated in‑game dialogue

    • Finalized all character and environment art in Illustrator

  • Key inspirations:

    • Chica‑Loca: Their “City Girl,” “Rock Chick,” and “Glam” themes perfectly capture the Y2K‑era femininity I grew up with
    • Emily the Strange: A bored, deadpan teenage girl living in her own illustrated world

    • Ashley Williams: The mixing of nostalgic songs in her recent London fashion week  show inform my my soundtrack’s atmosphere

    • Zombie Daisuki

    • Gekidan Inu Curry: Surreal, hand‑painted art in game format
